Alamosa, CO - A Southern Colorado musician took one of the biggest stages in the world Sunday night, as Alamosa, Colorado native mariachi violinist Aspen Quirico performed alongside Bad Bunny during the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

“This is years in the making. I moved to Los Angeles 10 years ago to pursue music,” Quirico told 9NEWS in a video call.
Due to strict NFL broadcast rules, media outlets are not permitted to publish images of Quirico performing during the halftime show. However, she has been sharing behind-the-scenes moments and reflections from the experience on TikTok, where her growing audience has helped elevate her career into the national spotlight.
Quirico’s musical journey began in Alamosa, where she started playing violin at age six after a visiting fiddler performed at her school. She later played with mariachi musicians in San Luis before taking a leap of faith and moving to Los Angeles to pursue music full-time.
After performing in numerous mariachi gigs across California, Quirico began experimenting with new styles and sharing violin arrangements on TikTok, often tagging Mexican singer Peso Pluma. Her videos went viral, leading to a touring opportunity that opened doors across the music industry, including an invitation to perform at the Super Bowl.

Quirico described the halftime show as a powerful and emotional milestone.
“I was proud because this was a statement to the world, and this was a statement to our immigrant friends and families,” she said. “I felt like I was fighting for peace, fighting for love, and it’s just something that I felt proud of.”

While Quirico now lives in Los Angeles, she said she frequently returns to Alamosa and plans to visit Southern Colorado next week to celebrate the performance with family.
