Colorado Springs, CO - A new weekly event aimed at bringing the community together is set to debut in the heart of downtown this summer.
Following 719 Magazine’s March coverage of the Rotary Club’s vision to revitalize the Acacia Park Bandshell during the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, new community driven events are already beginning to bring that vision to life. The newly announced summer concert series reflects the same goal highlighted earlier this year, transforming the historic bandshell into a consistent gathering place for live music, connection, and culture.

The Rotary Club has continued to push forward with plans to restore the venue as a midsized outdoor hub for performances and community events, reinforcing its role as a centerpiece for downtown activity.

Organizers announced the launch of ‘Summer Nights in the Park’, a free live music series taking place at Acacia Park every Thursday evening beginning June 4th. The concerts will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. through September, weather permitting, and will feature a rotating lineup of local musicians across multiple genres.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Downtown Creative District and Dizzy Charlie’s Music & Events, both of which say the goal is to create a welcoming space where residents and visitors can connect through music.

Vaas shared her enthusiasm with 719 Magazine for the future of the downtown summer concert series and the broader vision for the bandshell renovation, emphasizing its long term impact on the community.
“Something I’m really excited about with the downtown summer concert series and the bigger vision renovation of the bandshell is the opportunities that it will create for future activation,” she said. Vaas highlighted the importance of improving accessibility, adding, “I can’t wait to see a more streamline process for permitting so community members, bands and all kinds of artists, dancers, actors, etc. can utilize the bandshell on an ongoing year-round basis.” She noted that the series is just the beginning, explaining, “This summer concert series is not meant to be just a standalone event. It’s meant to highlight what is to come with many artists showcasing theirs talents.” Ultimately, she underscored the space’s role as a shared cultural hub, stating, “This is a community asset that should be accessible to all.”

The family friendly series is designed to energize downtown Colorado Springs while supporting local artists and nearby businesses. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and explore surrounding shops and restaurants before and after each performance.
City leaders say the timing of the series aligns with the area’s continued growth.

“With more people living downtown than ever before, it’s important to create consistent, accessible events that foster community,” said Michelle Winchell, Director of Creative Economy for the Downtown Creative District. “This series not only highlights local talent but also invites people to experience downtown in a new way.”
Organizers expect several hundred attendees each week and are currently seeking sponsors to help offset production costs and expand offerings, including food vendors and interactive activities.
The opening night is scheduled for June 4th, 2026 with additional details, performer lineups, and updates expected to be released in the coming weeks. With Dizzy Charlie’s expertise with countless artist events + ongoing Old Colorado City Summer Concert Series and direct involvement with the call for renovating Acacia’s Park Bandshell, this summer is looking like pivotal moment for artists to shine downtown thanks to Dizzy Charlie’s!
